High defintion consoles posing challenge to PC
A games developer has said that next generation consoles are winning over PC gamers because of their superior graphics capabilities and relatively low price.
Mark Rein, from developer of the Unreal Tournament games franchise Epic, said that some pricy PCs were far below graphical standards set by Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
“I’m concerned about the level of growth in the PC games business,” he told an audience at a games developers’ conference in Brighton.
“A $900 PC is nowhere near as capable as a $299 XBox 360 console: we’re losing PC gamers in record numbers.”
In the past, games demanding a lot of memory and graphics have tended to be the terrain for PC gamers, but developers may begin to abandon the PC due to the new console and high defintion technology.

My gaming rig at home is more than capable of matching the latest consoles.
Unfortunately, it cannot compete on price.
This is a very good point made here.
I think video card manufacturers may need to start rethinking their pricing structures.

Yeah, my PC whips the llama’s a$$ when it comes to gaming.
The new consoles could not dream of competing with it.
It did cost me £875 to build…
I can see where pure games players would choose a console over a PC.
Consoles are easily accessible, more sociable to play with mates, cheaper on the whole (like for like performance of graphical capabilities) and easy to transport.
But my PC is capable of so much more than playing games, and that is where the value comes from for me.
