Hitachi announces new HDTV range
Hitachi has released some details of its forthcoming flat screen HDTV range, which includes 32in and 37in LCD models as well as 42in and 50in plasma panels.
Hitachi will continue producing plasmas in large screen sizes but will not ignore consumer demand for LCDs in smaller screen sizes.
“The average consumer is telling us that they do not want a 42inch Plasma because his/her living room is not big enough for the larger models,” said David Oldroyd, Chief Executive Officer.
"Hitachi is a mass market brand and we will not ignore the demand for the smaller screen,” David added.
The company’s latest flat panel facility in the Czech Republic will begin production this month and is expected to produce up to 80,000 screens each month in the first year.
The latest range features several full HD 1080 plasma and LCD screens with IPS technology (allowing for wide viewing angles). The 50in plasma (P50T01) features a 1,280 x 1,080 resolution while the 42in plasma (P42T01) uses a 1,024 x 10,80 panel - both with integrated digital tuners.
These are supported by the entry-level H- Series, which includes 26in (L26H01), 32in (L32H01) LCDs with a full HD 37in (L37V01) model and
another 42in full HD plasma (P42H01)
“By providing great features at attractive price points the H-series allows users to experience specification levels that may previously have been outside their budget said Richard Bass, Senior Manager Display Products.
“This is particularly true of the P42H01 which delivers 1080 resolution in large size format - a feature that until recently has only been available on much more expensive flat screens,” he continued.
The plasma screens will be available this month while the L32H01 will be here in July and the L37V01 in August, although prices haven’t been confirmed.
