Samsung launches two new home theatre systems

Korean firm Samsung has introduced two new systems that it says can allow anyone with a DVD player to transform their living room into a hearty home theatre.

Its new HT-AS610 and HT-AS710 high-quality amplifiers and speaker systems are within the range of non-specialist consumers and can really make a difference, the company said.

"HDTV owners are realising the benefits and excitement for complementing their outstanding displays with appropriately spectacular sound,” said Bill Hadam, director of digital audio, Samsung Electronics America.

“With the HT-AS710’s 750-watt power and active subwoofer and features like XM-ready, 6.1 channel surround sound, and HDMI switching, consumers may opt never to leave the living room again!”

The HT-AS610 system features a 600-watt digital amplifier that will allow consumers and audiophiles alike “to enjoy music and movies that sound as riveting as they were intended to be”.

Its HT-AS710 system is more powerful, with 750 watts. It also features both HDMI input and output, for high definition images.

The HT-AS610 is available at $249.99, with the HT-AS710 at $449.99.
