Sky to spoil football fans; 138 live HD matches
Sky Sports will start the new season of live Barclays Premiership matches on Saturday 19 August. Broadcast in high defintion, Sheffield United will take on Liverpool in the first game of the season.
It will be the first live Premiership match to be broadcast live in high definition on Sky HD. In total, 138 matches of the 2006/2007 season will be shown in high defintion.
Vic Wakeling, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said; “All 138 live games on Sky Sports and PremPlus will be offered in HD. It’s something we’ve been working on for a year, and the results have been superb - the most exciting development in sports broadcasting since the introduction of colour. We think the Premiership… deserves this quality of coverage.”
This season Sky Sports will show 88 matches live from the Barclays Premiership. An additional 50 live matches will be available on PremPlus.
